Grounded in the belief that families express faith and charity through their love and service to one another, the Community-Based Services Division of Catholic Social Services is committed to preserving and nurturing family life through preventative, rehabilitative and support services. Families contribute to the strength of our parishes and neighborhoods. Family Services seeks to partner with faith-based and service organizations to enhance the quality of life for families. We are equally committed to those individuals who are vulnerable and isolated from their families.

Who is eligible for Services?
Anyone in need can contact a Family Service Center to receive an initial, comprehensive interview with a professional social worker to discuss needs, possible solutions and a plan of action. Home visits can be arranged as needed.

Frequent requests
Elder Care provides services including activities, groups and support centers through Senior Community and local Family Service Centers.
In-home counseling
and case management services are also provided. Families often seek assistance in securing nursing home placements and in-home services.

Pregnancy and Parenting programs assist by providing free, confidential pregnancy tests, access to prenatal care, support services during a crisis pregnancy, and follow-up services for infants and parents. A variety of parenting programs is offered which includes in-home parenting instruction.

Counseling is provided to individuals, couples and families. Licensed professionals provide therapy in a warm and caring environment. Individuals and families approach Catholic Social Services at times of loss, confusion and instability created by emotional or financial stress. No one is denied counseling services since fees are adjusted according to need and income.

Emergency assistance includes providing information and referrals to community resources and assessment for financial and material assistance.

Accredited representatives and lawyers specializing in immigration and naturalization provide immigration services.

Social workers also provide assistance to families caring for dependent mentally retarded adults and children, families struggling with unemployment and financial hardship and families seeking support groups and other educational programs.

Community and Parish Outreach are priorities for us. Family Service Centers welcome invitations from parishes and community groups to partner in expanding programs and services offered in the community. Neighborhood projects, development of safe environments for children to learn and play and the development of friendly visiting programs are some of the special outreach projects Catholic Social Services has sponsored or participated in planning and developing.

Family Service Centers offer a range of prevention programs for children. Catholic Social Services partners with city, county, and state government to provide quality before and after school programs, Family Fun Nights, youth leadership groups, conflict resolution classes for schools, and other programs in accessible locations.

“Thank you for all you have done for me and my family. You were always there for me when my husband was sick. Not just to help with bills and things but if I needed to talk. Thanks again.”
