The Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent, founded in 1938 by radio manufacturer A. Atwater Kent, was established to preserve the cultural history of the city. Today, the museum houses 100,000 artifacts that include industrial objects, trade signs, furnishings, prints and engravings, photographs, books, toys, clothing, and ephemera such as political memorabilia and advertisements.

This significant collection is a unique repository of Philadelphia's history. It is a chronicle of the people, lifestyles, issues, interests, and industries that continue to form this city.
