Youth Art Gallery, Terminal A-East Baggage Claim

The Delphi After School Art Club at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a weekly arts education program for middle school aged students from the School District of Philadelphia. Each year, up to 240 students participate in the program that includes tours of the Museum, art classes, cultural performances, conservation demonstrations, a student art exhibition, and a collaborative community art project. The Delphi Art Club focuses on the creative and academic aspects of the visual arts and provides students with a safe, educational, and inspiring place to gather after school.

The exhibition Points of Departure was created specifically for the Youth Art Gallery at Philadelphia International Airport. Students in the Delphi Art Club worked collaboratively to create artwork based on the numerous collections at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They were also challenged to visually interpret a quote by renowned artist Paul Klee, “A line is a dot that went for a walk.”

The 6 participating schools are General Louis Wagner Middle School, Juniata Park Academy, Middle Years Alternative School, Russell Byers Charter School, Thomas K. Finletter Elementary School, and William Levering Elementary School.
