Youth Art Gallery, between Terminals D and E
May 2, 2002 - August 200

Taller Puertorriqueño was established in 1974 as a community-based cultural and educational organization. Its purpose is to preserve, develop, and promote Puerto Rican artistic and cultural traditions as well as educate the community about Latin American cultures.

Taller Puertorriqueño offers a wide range of programs that include a gallery to showcase artwork by Puerto Rican and Latin American artists, a bookstore that is recognized for its inventory of Spanish-English books, and a Resource Archive that features an extensive collection of artwork by contemporary Latino artists. For the younger students, Taller Puertorriqueño also offers a Cultural Awareness Program that includes a homework club and after-school activities as well as a Youth Artist Program that specifically educates teenagers to pursue professional careers in the visual arts.

This exhibition features work by young artists who are participants in the Youth Artist Program. It is a free, two-year training program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The program accepts only 12 students per year to ensure quality instruction and education.
