Philadelphia artist Michele
Tremblay has combined her expertise as a floral designer and fine artist to
create hand-crafted, large-scale paper flower sculptures and installations. Her
work is meticulous and labor intensive, and her attention to detail is
remarkable. The time spent as a floral designer has proven beneficial as she
re-creates her own unique paper specimens.
Cutting, folding, bending, painting,
pinning, and gluing – Tremblay’s process is simple, yet the resulting
compositions and singular floral objects are mesmerizing in their beauty. Describing
how flowers have influenced her work, she says “their moods and unique energy
are the source of my endless fascination and inspiration.”
It is Tremblay’s mission to
“delight and surprise,” and her paper sculptures are a welcome reminder of
nature’s ability to continually inspire human nature.
