Within Audenreid’s visual arts curriculum, teachers recognize that high school students are learning about whom they are and what they want to be. “Words like self-esteem, self-discovery, self-confidence, and self-image are all-critical characteristics to embody” at this important juncture in their lives. “Creating self-portraits is one way for students to express themselves while using different mediums to convey their emotions and artistic style on canvas and paper.”

Universal Audenreid’s mission is to “provide a rich and high quality education for every scholar to prepare them for college, technical school, and entrepreneurships that lead to a sustainable career in the 21st century and build altruistic alumni who contribute to the transformation of their communities as future leaders and positive members of society.”

Today, Audenreid serves approximately 650 students – 50% male and 50% female with 100% minority enrollment. Principal Blanchard Diavua has described Universal Audenried Charter High School as “not simply a school, but a community of students, parents, teachers, and community members who want to see our students have more and do better. As our scholars say, at Universal Audenried, “We do the most!””
