Karen Rich Beall creates sculptures inspired by nature. Using a variety of materials including ceramic and felt, Beall's sculptures appear to be hybrid plant forms that she has meticulously cultivated. They are often based on micro-organisms now enlarged, abstracted, and reinterpreted. While embodied with naturalistic references, each sculpture has seemingly evolved into its own unique species. Although visually diverse, Beall's forms are typically whimsical in their imaginative combinations of elements and textures. Both unusual and playful, the sculptures are wonderful fantasies of nature.
