Philadelphia artist Steven Donegan is recognized for his profound interest in plant forms and marine life—their textures, shapes, and structure. Donegan’s sculptures are often based on microorganisms that he has enlarged and reinterpreted in copper. He frequently uses repetitive images within a sculpture or installation to emphasize pattern as well as nature’s ability to amass, grow, and reproduce.
