Pennsylvania artist Cliff Lee is a practioner of traditional ceramic vesselmaking. Although he incorporates techniques of throwing, glazing, and carving, his claywork is far more sculptural than utilitarian.

Lee’s work is inspired by natural forms such as gourds, cabbage, melons, and, most notably, the lotus flower-one of the world’s most ancient religious symbols. By combining his mastery of porcelain with his aesthetic sensitivity to form and color, Lee creates exquisite objects that reference both his Asian heritage and contemporary artisanry.
