1993-2003 a series of solar photograms
Philadelphia artist Martha Madigan is inspired by the passage of time both physically and spiritually. She is interested in the life cycle and the ephemeral moments of human growth in relationship to nature. Madigan is known for her superimposed imagery of silhouetted figures and botanical life forms. Appropriately, her images are primarily created using sunlight-a natural, life-giving source.
In this particular series of 10 solar photograms, Madigan has eloquently recorded the growth of her daughter who posed each summer from age 3 to age 12. The prints in this exhibition are limited edition giclee prints that have been digitally produced from the original solar photograms.
