Philadelphia artist Leo Sewell is a collector of discarded objects. For the past twenty-five years, he has scavenged through Philadelphia trash searching for a treasure trove of castoffs including buttons, lapel pins, signs, medallions, keys, watches and tags, anything that he finds interesting. Using thousands of these everyday objects, Sewell tranforms them into a variety of sculptural images-animals, human figures, portraits, and symbols of American patriotism like the eagle, elephant, and Liberty Bell.
