Philadelphia artist Jackie Tileston is known for her paintings and works on paper that incorporate multiple textures, colors, patterns, images, and materials to create dreamy, cosmic universes. Her work is influenced by a vast array of sources that include realism, abstraction, physics, technology, Hindu deity images, Chinese landscapes, and antique French wallpaper. She is interested in the creative challenges posed by integrating such diverse visuals into a unified image. The complexities within her work mirror that of contemporary society, where cultures often overlap, sometimes combine, and new possibilities emerge. Her bold use of color, unique mix of imagery, and beautifully arranged compositions make imagining the world through Tileston's vision a memorable experience.
