Philadelphia artist Paula Winokur is internationally renowned for her hand-built large-scale porcelain sculpture. Her work references segments of massive land formations comprised of slabs, crevices, rifts, and ledges. Similar to a geological discovery, these objects appear to have been unearthed and formed over centuries. These meticulously crafted abstract sculptures feature smooth surfaces seemingly worn by wind or water, sheared edges of tightly compacted porcelain layers, and once molten clay rivers.
