Jack Carnell: Road Trip Terminal F, Concourse 2 |
| During the summer of 2006,
photographer Jack Carnell drove from Philadelphia south through Maryland,
Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia. He visited both urban and rural
locations stopping along the way to photograph the local culture. He was
particularly intrigued by the roadside landscape-the signs and storefronts that
defined each town. He purposefully did not include any people in his
photographs. Carnell wanted the objects, the signs, and the buildings to
describe the surrounding community and the local way of life often emphasizing
some interesting and quirky juxtapositions. Ultimately, Carnell's photographs
are a celebration of the everyday American landscape and the people that live
there. |
