The American Flag: History of the Stars and Stripes

Between Terminals E and F
June 15, 2011 - October 24, 2011

This exhibition traces the history of the American Flag and features 28 versions of the flag, from 13 stars to 50 stars, including the famed Betsy Ross Flag.

For more than 200 years, the American flag has remained a symbol of patriotism, freedom, pride, strength, and unity. It is an icon of American culture that flies outside government buildings, public institutions, memorials, and homes. It has been proudly raised at such extraordinary sites as Pike’s Peak (1820), the North Pole (1909), Mount Everest (1963), and the Moon (1969).
