Emily Brown: Brush Drawings

Philadelphia artist Emily Brown has been painting landscapes for over 30 years. Brown's landscape paintings are primarily oil on canvas created in a traditional representational style. In 1995, while continuing to paint, Brown began to explore the landscape through another medium and process known as brush drawing-- where ink is applied on paper using brushes. This change in material and technique has allowed Brown to be more expressive and poetic with her subject matter and mark making.
