Fire Prevention Billboard Contest

Youth Art Gallery - Between Terminals D & E

The Fire Prevention Division of the Philadelphia Fire Department is a critical component of the department's mission to provide efficient and effective fire protection to its citizens. One important way to ensure public safety is to battle fires before they start through fire prevention education. Throughout the United States, fires are a major cause of death, injury, and property damage. The majority of fires can be prevented if people are aware of fire safety issues.

Each year, the Philadelphia Fire Department organizes a fire prevention billboard contest solely for students from the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts-the only magnet school for the arts and academics in the Philadelphia School District.

In 2004-2005, 28 students from the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts participated in the billboard contest. Three posters were chosen by the Philadelphia Fire Department and members of the Citizens' Fire Prevention Committee for reproduction as 4'x8' billboards. These billboards will be displayed at 6 firehouses throughout the city to further promote fire prevention in the community and increase the awareness of fire safety.
