ODUNDE African American Festival: Twenty-Seven Years on South Street

Terminal F, Concourse 1

ODUNDE is one of the oldest African American street festivals in the United States. It began twenty-seven years ago in an historicallyAfrican American Philadelphia neighborhood at 23rd and South Street near the Schuylkill River. ODUNDE is based on the traditional Nigerian culture of Yoruba where rituals are significant to special occasions as well as to everyday life. This exhibition was organized by the Philadelphia Folklore Project, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve and support the folk arts of Philadelphia, in collaboration with ODUNDE, Inc.
