David Stephens: The Very Last Supper

Terminal F, Concourse 3

Philadelphia artist David Stephens has created a series of 12 hand-cut silkscreen prints inspired by fragments of 5th-century Ethiopian shrouds. These contemporary re-creations feature abstract images based on religious numerical symbols and old manuscript letter forms. Each image is encircled by a unique prayer written by 12 randomly chosen individuals. These nonsectarian prayers are personal to each author and reflect their expressions of faith in contemporary culture.

This series of prints entitled The Very Last Supper was created during a five-year artist’s residency at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia.
