- May 2008: PHL
ranks highest among large airports in North America in overall customer
satisfaction in J.D. Power and Associates' 2008 North America Airport
Satisfaction Study.
- October 2007:
PHL received a Green Power Award from Citizens for Pennsylvanias Future
for its purchase of clean, renewable wind energy from the PECO Wind program.
August 2006: PHLs Flight Guide received a third place award in the
Airports Council International - North America Excellence in Marketing &
Communications Contest.
- July 2006: The
J.D. Power and Associates 2006 North America Airport Satisfaction Study ranked
Philadelphia International Airport 2nd among large airports in overall
passenger satisfaction.
- April 2006:
The Communicator Awards recognized the Airport's Calendar and Annual Report
with Awards of Excellence and the Destination PHL newsletter with an Award of
Distinction.
- March 2006: The
American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter presented its Special
Partner Award to PHL in recognition of the Airport's participation in its
Health & Safety Programs and in its mission to "Prevent, Prepare for and
Respond to Emergencies.
- November 2005:
Director of Aviation, Charles J. Isdell received the "Master of the
Infrastructure" award from the PENJERDEL Council. This award recognized Mr.
Isdell's efforts and commitment in the continued growth and economic impact of
PHL.
- November 2005:
The American Lung Association presented the Trudeau Mission Award to PHL. This
award acknowledged the Airport's dedication to the American Lung Association's
mission of preventing lung disease and promoting health in our local area
through the Airport's Smoke-Free Initiative.
- October 2005:
The Multicultural Affairs Congress honored PHL with its Industry Appreciation
award for promoting multicultural tourism initiatives and being a partner with
the hospitality industry.
- September 2005:
The USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey presented its President's Award
to Philadelphia International Airport in recognition of its years of service to
and support for the USO.
- August 2005:
PHL's Flight Guide received a second place award in the Airports Council
International - North America Excellence in Marketing & Communications
Contest.
- March 2005: The
American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter awarded a special partner
award to the Airport for its support of the Red Cross in several endeavors.
- September 2004:
Northeast Philadelphia Airport received the Airport of the Year Award -
General Service Facility Award from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Aviation.
- August 2004:
PHL's Flight Guide received a second place award in the Airports Council
International - North America Excellence in Marketing & Communications
Contest.
- August 2004:
Philadelphia Magazine named Airport Wireless/Palm One as the city's best gadget
store in their annual "Best of Philly" issue.
- April 2004:
Airports Council International - North America honored the Airport's
Concessions Program with an Honorable Mention for Most Innovative Concession -
"The UPS Store."
- October 2005:
The Airport's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Review Committee received
the Access Achievement Award from the City of Philadelphia. Presented by the
Mayor's Commission on People With Disabilities', the award recognized the
Airport for outstanding efforts and commitment to increase access for people
with disabilities.
- March 2004: New
International Terminal A-West received a project award at the March of Dimes
11th Annual Transportation Building and Construction Awards Luncheon.
- March 2004: The
Federal Aviation Administration presented an award for excellence to
Philadelphia International Airport to recognize PHL's third consecutive
error-free safety inspection.
- December 2003:
Leah Douglas, Director of Exhibitions, was honored by the Please Touch Museum
with the "Great Friend to Kids Award" for her work with children in the arts
field.
- October 2003:
Atlantic Aviation, the Airport's Fixed Base Operator, received the Pennsylvania
Bureau of Aviation's 2003 Fixed Base Operator Award.
- October 2003:
Mark Gale, Deputy Director of Aviation, was chosen as the Facility Manager of
the Year by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Bureau of Aviation.
- October 2003:
Charles J. Isdell, Director of Aviation, was named Best Director of the
Year by Airport Revenue News for his leadership and communication skills in
dealing with the Airport's customers, neighbors and the post-9/11 environment.
- August 2003:
Philadelphia magazine honored Sky Asian Bistro in PHL's Terminal C with a "Best
of Philly Award."
- August 2003:
PHL's newsletter received a third-place award in the Airports Council
International-North America Excellence in Marketing & Communications
Contest.
- October 2003:
Drexel University's Aviation Management Program, which PHL helped develop and
promote, received the Pennsylvania Bureau of Aviation's 2003 Aviation
Outreach/Awareness Award.
- July 2003: The
Environmental Systems Research Institute awarded PHL the Pennsylvania Special
Achievement in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Award.
- March 2003: PHL
received a first-place award for "Most Innovative Services" in the Airport
Retail News "Best Concessions 2003" survey.
- March 2003:
Charles J. Isdell, Director of Aviation, received the "Service to Humanity
Award" at the annual March of Dimes Transportation Building & Construction
Luncheon.
- November 2002:
Leah Douglas, Director of Exhibitions, received the "Golden Wind Sock
Award" from the Aviation Council of Pennsylvania for her dedication to the
aviation community.
- May 2002:
Airports Council International-North America honored PHL with its "Best Overall
Concessions Program Award."
- January 2001:
PHL is named one of the nation's best airports by the Wall Street Journal,
receiving a 4-star rating, the highest attainable.
- March 2002: PHL
received the American Red Cross "Award of Excellence" for the successful
implementation of its Automated External Defibrillator Program.
- March 2001: The
American Red Cross honored PHL with its "Help Can't Wait Award" for the
Airport's deployment of 50 Automated External Defibrillators in time for the
Republican National Convention.
- March 2001: The
American Consulting Engineers Council presented PHL with its "Honor Award" for
the Airport's environmentally responsible design and construction of Runway
8-26.
- March 2001: PHL
received numerous second and third place awards in the Airport Retail News
"Best Concessions 2001" survey.
- March 2000:
Awarded three first-place awards from Airport Retail News in its "Best
Concessions 2000" contest.
