| Philadelphia International Airport Debuts a 200 Foot Long Mural
Painted By Local School Children special mural designed and painted
by local youth artists is now on display at the Terminal F construction site at
Philadelphia International Airport. The 200-foot long artwork depicting scenes
of Philadelphia and self-portraits is part of a beautification initiative
designed to make the Airports construction areas visually appealing.>
The mural showcases the
talents of youth artists from NetworkArts, a non-profit arts organization,
along with sixth and seventh graders from the Gesu Elementary School, which is
located at 18th & Thompson Streets in North Philadelphia.
"This project is a
terrific win-win for the Airport and its customers...we dress up the perimeter
of one of the regions premier construction projects and at the same time
show off the talents of some great local youngsters," stated Charles J. Isdell,
Jr., the Citys Acting Director of Aviation.
The mural can be seen
from the Departures Roadway between Terminal E and the old Atlantic Aviation
hangars as travelers pass the site of the new Terminal F, which is scheduled to
be completed in Spring of 2001.
