Philadelphia International Airport Launches Redesigned
Website
Philadelphia International Airport recently unveiled a completely
redesigned, user-friendly website. With new visual and technological
enhancements, users will find the site easier to navigate and more informative.
Visitors to www.phl.org can familiarize themselves with the Airport
through a series of improved features, including a flight tracker, traffic
reports, interactive terminal map, E-newsletters and Kids Corner.
"Every department and agency in the city is committed to making information and
services easier for the public to access, and this powerful, new Airport
website is a perfect example of those successful efforts," said Mayor John F.
Street.
"We constantly strive to meet and exceed the expectations of
our passengers. This new website demonstrates our dedication to that goal,"
said Charles J. Isdell, the City's Director of Aviation.
One of the
new website's features is a link to real-time flight tracking. This allows
travelers to track a specific flight from departure to arrival and actually see
where the plane is in its route and get an estimated time of arrival.
In addition to tracking the movement of planes in the air, the enhanced website
also allows users to monitor local traffic conditions. By clicking on the
"Traffic Report," link, a user can see traffic reports on conditions of
roadways in the region.
As a result of the Airport's exceptional
growth, an interactive terminal map has been introduced on the site. This will
allow travelers to navigate their way through the Airport and assist them with
information on Airport services and amenities before they begin their trip.
Another new feature is a Kids Corner, which is dedicated to the
Airport's younger travelers. This area includes games, puzzles, a list of
recommended children's aviation books, descriptions of aviation terms, and an
informative section that explains to children how airplanes fly.
The
site also offers an E-Newsletter to inform visitors of current Airport events,
new services and other topics pertaining to the Airport. Information will be
updated on a regular basis.
These new features are in addition to the
familiar features on the old website such as real-time flight and gate
information, real-time airfield video, travel tips and other Airport-related
information.
