Chickie's & Pete's, New D/E
Corridor Arrive at Philadelphia International Airport Travelers can enjoy a Philly culinary favorite and indoor access
between terminals Philadelphia - Just in time for the holidays, Philadelphia
International Airport (PHL) will celebrate the opening of local favorite
Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar in Terminal E and mark a
milestone in the Terminal D/E renovation project.
Beginning Friday,
December 21st, Airport customers can get a taste of Chickie's & Pete's
signature Crab Fries and other treats that have made the popular eatery a
Philadelphia institution. The Terminal E restaurant is the first of three
Chickie's & Pete's opening at PHL in the next several months. Other
locations are planned for Concourse C and Concourse A-West.
"The
arrival of Chickie's & Pete's at the Airport will enable travelers from
outside the Philadelphia area to discover what Philadelphians have enjoyed for
years," said James Tyrrell, Deputy Director of Aviation, Property Management
and Business Development. "It's very exciting that a Philadelphia culinary
favorite like Chickie's & Pete's is joining an outstanding food and
beverage program at PHL."
December 21st is also the day a new
pedestrian corridor opens connecting Terminals D and E on the Departures side.
The walkway maintains passenger access between the terminals while construction
continues on the new 3-level D/E Connector, which is a major component of the
$250 million renovation project overhauling two of the Airport's oldest
terminals. The pedestrian corridor shifts from the south side of the D/E
Departures connector to the north side.
"It's important that the
Airport has maintained indoor passenger traffic flow between Terminals D and E
during construction, particularly with Southwest Airlines using ticket counters
in Terminal E and gates in both terminals," noted Mark Gale, Deputy Director of
Aviation, Operations & Facilities.
The Philadelphia Airport System is owned and operated by the City of
Philadelphia and is composed of Philadelphia International Airport and
Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The Airport System is a self-sustaining entity
that operates without the use of local tax dollars. It is one of the largest
economic engines in Pennsylvania, generating an estimated $14 billion in
spending to the regional economy and employing a workforce of nearly
34,000.
