Passengers Can Now Rock at Philadelphia International
Airport
The latest trend in passenger comfort comes to
Philadelphia International Airport with the installation of rocking chairs in
the B/C Terminal retail area. Approximately 30 white lacquered wooden rocking
chairs have been placed along with new planters filled with tropical greenery
and seasonal flowering plants. This newest passenger amenity creates small,
unique seating areas among lush foliage in stone-like planters, which are also
a new addition to the Airport.
"This is a great opportunity to create
a warm and comfortable atmosphere by adding a little bit of home to the
Airport", stated Alfred Testa, Jr., the City's Director of Aviation. "It gives
our passengers a chance to relax while they people-watch or just sit and read a
book," continued Testa.
The location is part of Philadelphia
MarketPlace at the Airport, a 45,000 square foot retail mall consisting of 33
shops and stores. The new Terminal B/C is one of the highest traffic areas at
the Airport and was opened in June 1998.
"Rocking chairs are yet
another convenience so passengers can enjoy their time at the Airport. This
coupled with our Exhibitions Program and Special Events Program makes
Philadelphia International Airport a fun place to visit," added Testa.
