ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
TERMINAL D-E COMPLETION
This project consists of the completion of a Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) for Terminals D and E, connection of the Terminals E and F concourses, and completion of ticket lobby renovations. The CBIS is an in-line baggage conveying system that will allow for automated screening (CTX 9400 Explosive Detection System machines) of passenger bags for explosives before being placed on aircraft. The CBIS is currently undergoing contractor testing and commissioning. TSA testing and certification is planned for Summer 2015, with an initial operating date in September 2015. Ticket counter and curb-side conveyors will be tied into the new CBIS in a phased sequence as renovations to the ticketing building are completed.
Connection of the Terminal E and F concourses will provide passengers the ability to travel the entire length of the Airport without having to be rescreened at another security checkpoint. This significant enhancement is expected to open in September 2015. Renovations in the Terminals D and E ticketing buildings will add ticket counter positions with larger queuing spaces and increased public circulation. Currently, the center section of the Terminal D ticketing building is under renovation with a planned completion date of Spring 2016. Upon its completion, Delta Airlines will occupy these new spaces. This move by Delta will free up the east end of the Terminal E ticketing building for the final phase of renovations.
