The newest heavyweight of Terminal A-West, a 10-foot bronze Rocky Balboa statue, is now welcoming travelers with heart, grit and the spirt of Philadelphia.

Discover A True Philly Original

The Rocky Statue has been a “must-see” Philadelphia landmark since 1982, when it first appeared atop the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps during the filming of Rocky III. Sculptor A. Thomas Schomberg created a limited edition of three original monumental casts in collaboration with Sylvester Stallone. Each cast has its own story:

Rocky1-Museum

The beloved public statue millions visit every year. Originally placed at the top of the Museum steps in 1982, it was later moved to the Spectrum before returning to the Museum grounds in the mid-2000s, where it now stands at the base of the steps.

Rocky2-Stallone
Rocky Statue #2 – Sylvester Stallone’s Private Collection

This cast belongs to Sylvester Stallone and is currently on loan to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, giving fans the rare chance to see two original Rocky statues in the same location.

When sculptor A. Thomas Schomberg made a rare third cast of the Rocky statue available, PHL seized the opportunity to bring this iconic symbol into the airport for millions to experience. Now standing in Terminal A-West between gates A-15 and A-16, the 10-foot bronze greets travelers with the heart, grit, and determination that define Philadelphia.
