Albie's Elevator is a preschool series that follows the adventures of self-appointed elevator operator, Albie, as she navigates her big feelings with the help of their grown-up neighbors. This original production explores social-emotional learning through an arts lens, as Albie meets performers, visual artists, musicians, and more who share how they deal with their emotions and the twists and turns of their own creative processes.
The series, which premiered in 2023, has featured 47 artists from the Greater Philadelphia region over two seasons, along with 18 musical guests singing original songs. These interactions inspire Albie to solver her own dilemmas and engage viewers in new art mediums.
Albies's Elevator is produced by WHYY, the primary PBS member station for the Philadelphia area, as part of a larger commitment to providing quality, educational content to young viewers. Each Albie's Elevator story includes an accompanying lesson plan intended to extend the learning at home through simple and accessible art projects, printables, and recommended reading. The series and accompanying educational assets are available in both English and Spanish.
