Onsite News Supervisor Tricia Duodu recently received the “Impression Makers” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This award recognizes customer-facing employees who provide direct customer service to passengers.
As a supervisor, Duodu is responsible for opening and closing the store, assisting cashiers, stocking shelves and welcoming guests in the store on the 4 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. shift. She previously worked at PHL from 2011 – 2019 and rejoined the airport last August.
“I love doing my job,” said Duodu. “Whatever I do, I do it for the Lord. I’ll give my everything.”
Duodu demonstrates strong values of customer-centrism and prioritizing passenger needs.
In her nomination of Duodu, Department of Aviation (DOA) Director of Marketing and Branding, Megan O’Connell stated, “My visit to Onsite News in Terminal C turned into a wonderful experience, largely thanks to Tricia's exceptional service. As I entered the store, I immediately noticed her conditioning and stocking the beverage case in the front. She warmly greeted me, creating an inviting atmosphere. Once I found the items I needed, I approached the front counter, only to find Tricia already waiting with a genuine smile. As she rang up my purchases, she took a moment to ask about my day, displaying a level of friendliness and engagement that truly stood out. While this level of service should be a standard, that isn't always the case. Her attentiveness and genuine warmth set a positive tone for my entire day. This interaction exemplifies the fundamental skills we value in the Impression-Makers category. This encounter has not only left a lasting impression but has also inspired me to make Onsite News a regular stop when I am in the airport. Tricia's exceptional service will make a positive difference in our airport, and she should be celebrated for that.”
Duodu is always willing to help in any way and has been seen assisting a passenger tie their shoes and reminding another to put away their credit card. “I love helping people,” said Duodu. “I believe in doing things wholeheartedly.”
While training employees, Duodu encourages them to bring their best self to the table. Customer service comes naturally for Duodu who thrives in social interactions. “I love working at Onsite News,” said Duodu. “It gives me a space to grow and learn. They see you as a leader.”
Duodu is welcoming and respectful of all religions. She’s a woman of integrity who enjoys spreading positivity and encouraging passengers with inspirational phrases. Her passion is people, and she appreciates receiving letters of appreciation from guests.
Duodu is grateful to Liz Moselle, Leah Douglas, and the entire employee recognition team and committee.
Duodu immigrated to United States from Ghana in 2010 and is fluent in Twi. She is featured in “The Power of Determination,” a book chronicling her journey to success. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and gardening.
“I thank God for this award,” said Duodu. “I also thank Megan O’Connell, Airport CEO Atif Saed, Terrell Coard, our entire Onsite News team, Raj Singh, and Sandy and Terri Roberts.”
