PHL’s 9th 5K on the Runway Takes Flight

Imagine taking off from the runway, but not in a plane.  Approximately 500 runners and walkers did just that at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on September 12, when they laced up their sneakers — instead of fastening their seat belts—for PHL’s sold out ninth 5K on Runway 8-26.
The fastest runners to reach the finish line destination were Davies Adepoju, Olivia Mauriello, and Sofie Gonzalez. The top three male and female runners in seven age groups, ranging from 12-under to 60-over, were also awarded medals. A complete list of winners can be found here.
Proceeds from the race totaled almost $48,000 and supported Eastwick United, Eastwick Friends and Neighbors Coalition and March of Dimes.
