PHL Employees Honored at AAAE ACE Electrical Certification Ceremony

On June 12, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) hosted a ceremony to honor employees that have recently received the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) ACE-Airfield Lighting Maintenance Certification. The ACE-Airfield Lighting Maintenance program is an extensive curriculum based on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), U.S. military and international recommendations. It combines detailed electrical theory and proven maintenance techniques while educating and challenging airport personnel with airfield lighting maintenance responsibilities. This program is designed to strengthen safety, reliability, and long-term resilience. Participants from airports located throughout the U.S. attended the training program, which was hosted by PHL in April, providing the opportunity for employees to meet their peers, learn from each other and share ideas.

At PHL, the certification ceremony was held in partnership with the Operations Facilities Maintenance Unit and the Human Resources Training and Development team. Chief Operating Officer Greg Phillips, Vice President of Facilities Management Milton Robinson, and Vice President of Talent Management Stacey Lennon recognized the program graduates.

“The AAAE ACE Airfield Lighting Maintenance Program is a clear example of investment in action. The skills gained through this training directly support the systems that guide aircraft safety in all conditions. The expertise in this program ensures that our operations remain efficient and dependable,” said Lennon.

“Moments like this reinforce PHL’s unwavering focus on operational integrity, strong safety culture, and continuous improvement in everything we do. The ACE-Airfield Lighting Maintenance Program plays a critical role in strengthening our industry and elevating the standards of airfield management,” said Robinson.

The ACE Program aligns with PHL’s mission to deliver a safe, efficient, and passenger focused experience and to provide employees with opportunities to enrich their careers. Those who have completed the program developed a deeper understanding of airfield systems, consistent processes, and clear communication across all teams.

  • Louis Baxter III

  • Daniel Woertz

  • Melisandre Mottl
