AEROMÉXICO AND THE MEXICAN CONSULATE IN PHILADELPHIA ANNOUNCE DIRECT FLIGHT PHILADELPHIA-MEXICO CITY

Philadelphia, PA. (March 21, 2025) - Today, at the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia, a press conference was held to announce the new direct flight from Philadelphia to Mexico City, which will be operated by the Aeroméxico -Delta alliance, starting June 5, 2025, with a daily frequency.
During the conference, the Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia, Carlos G. Obrador Garrido Cuesta, celebrated the launch of this flight and emphasized that it will help strengthen trade, tourism, and academic exchange between Mexico and Pennsylvania.

Consul Obrador highlighted that, from an economic perspective, having greater air connectivity is essential, and that the flight is partly the result of Mexico's presence in the region and the substantial commercial exchange sustained with Pennsylvania, "which exceeds 12 billion dollars annually, making Mexico its third-largest trading partner and second-largest export market."

Consul Carlos Obrador also mentioned that the flight would help make sports and tourism events in both cities more accessible to a larger audience. In particular, he pointed out that both Mexico City and Philadelphia will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will facilitate connections between both regions during this major event.

José Zapata, Vice President of Sales for the United States, Canada, and Latin America at Aeroméxico , said: "Last year, Aeroméxico -Delta alliance celebrated a significant milestone in our partnership. Together we launched 28 new routes in the US-Mexico transborder market. In 2025, we continue growing our footprint, offering even more destinations for our customers to travel seamlessly between both countries.

Philadelphia, the largest underserved market in the US from Mexico City joins the Aeroméxico  network after the successful launch of several Northeastern US routes in 2024. We are thrilled to offer our clients in the Philadelphia region with the most convenient and direct air service to Mexico, onboard our B737 MAX fleet"

This new flight adds to the expansion of air options at Philadelphia International Airport. In this regard, Kate Sullivan, Commercial Director of the airport, stated: “We can’t wait for the launch of this new non-stop service to Mexico City and are so pleased to welcome Aeroméxico  to Philadelphia. We’re extremely grateful to the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia and others within our community who helped build the business case to bring this flight here. The ties between our two regions are very strong. In addition to better connecting the Mexican community in Philadelphia to Mexico, we’re excited to help visitors experience the art, architecture, culture and delicious cuisine that Mexico City has to offer.”

Also present were Kyra Harris, Deputy Representative of the City of Philadelphia; Alba Martínez, Director of Commerce for Philadelphia; and Katherine Skopp, General Director of International Operations for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, who celebrated the new route and considered it an opportunity to strengthen the ties between both cities.

Other invited speakers included Jeniffer Rodríguez, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Tom Levy, Director of External Affairs at the World Trade Center of Philadelphia. Additionally, representatives from the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, World Affairs Council, Philadelphia Visitor Center, and members of the Consular Corps in Philadelphia were present.
