Philadelphia, a city of firsts, has one more innovation to add to that list. PHL Food & Shops, the concessions program at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), is the first airport program in the U.S. to launch the integrated meal delivery service for passengers using the Grab mobile food ordering platform and AtYourGate delivery service. Passengers can now order a variety of items, including local favorites like cheesesteaks and crab fries, from a mobile device and have their food delivered to their location at PHL.
“The Grab Airport app featuring delivery by AtYourGate is not only convenient, it also offers travelers and employees another safe, contactless way to order food from some of the airport’s favorite restaurants and receive it quickly, without having to wait in line,” said Megan O’Connell, Marketing and Customer Service Manager of MarketPlace PHL.
Passengers can download the Grab app to their mobile device, visit orderatphl.com, or scan Grab QR codes located throughout PHL. Guests can select delivery and have their food delivered while they wait to board at their flights’ gates. PHL employees can also have food delivered to their airport work locations. Participating merchants are searchable by food type and terminal.
“When PHL Food & Shops launched the Grab App at PHL last year, it was for the convenience of passengers and employees that didn’t have time to wait in line,” said PHL CEO Chellie Cameron. “The introduction of the AtYourGate delivery service used in conjunction with Grab demonstrates another way the airport and our stakeholders have thought about the health and safety of our guests and employees in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and are working on solutions to serve everyone better.”
The current list of participating PHL Food & Shops restaurants includes Auntie Anne’s, Bar Symon, Bud & Marilyn’s, California Pizza Kitchen, Chickie’s & Pete’s (four locations), Dunkin’ (Concourse D & D/E Connector), Gachi, Geno’s, Jack Duggan’s, Jamba (two locations), Piattino Pizza, Smashburger (three locations), and Vino Volo. First-time users can enter the promo code RUSH to save 20% off their first order (maximum discount is $5.00). More merchants will be added to the program in the coming months.
