PHL/PNE CEO Chellie Cameron Named Airports Council Vice Chair

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE) CEO Chellie Cameron was named Vice Chair of the Board of Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), the trade association representing commercial service airports in the United States and Canada. Cameron’s two-year appointment to the role began on January 1, 2022; she previously served as chair of the U.S. Policy Council for ACI-NA.

“It is an incredible honor to continue to serve the members of ACI-NA,” said Cameron. “The past two years have been extraordinarily challenging for our industry and our workforce as we continue to provide travelers with connections to communities around the world – but there are signs of optimism on the horizon. I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective to helping our airports and our people continue to recover and grow.”

A U.S. Air Force veteran and Certified Public Accountant, Cameron brings a diversity of perspectives to her role as a business leader. In addition to ACI-NA, she serves on numerous international, national and local boards and advisory groups. She is a member of the World Governing Board for Airports Council International and the National Policy Committee of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).  She is also on the boards of directors for the U.S. Travel Association, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia and the Union League of Philadelphia and is a member of the Select Greater Philadelphia Advisory Board, the Airport Cooperative Research Program Oversight Committee, the Sunday Breakfast Club, and the Forum of Executive Women of Philadelphia. She was chosen to be the Chairperson of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s Economic and Community Advisory Council in 2021 and was asked to continue in this role through 2022.

As with many of the positions Cameron has held throughout her career, she is often one of the few women at the table. However, when it comes to the advancement and representation of women and people of color in top roles, ACI-NA is a leader in the aviation sector. As vice chair and a member of ACI-NA’s Board of Directors, of which one-third of the members are women, Cameron joins multiple women across ACI’s global network to hold leadership and governing board positions – including ACI-LAC, ACI Europe, ACI Africa, and ACI World.

“I’m a firm believer that you must ‘see it to be it’ when it comes to having more women and people of color in leadership roles,” said Cameron. “I’m thrilled to be part of an industry association like ACI-NA that understands the need to support diverse perspectives if we want to see our industry grow, evolve, and take on the tough challenges we face today.”

As Vice Chair, Cameron will work closely with the new ACI-NA chair Sam Samaddar, Director of Kelowna International Airport in British Columbia, Canada. Together, they will help ACI-NA and its airports continue to navigate the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and work to keep the industry moving forward. Cameron follows Samaddar as the Vice Chair.
