Travelers passing through Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) can now enjoy a
fresh, flavorful, and fully plant-based meal option provided by new airport vendor LUHV FOOD, a Hatboro, Pa. vegan brand established by Philadelphia restaurant industry veteran and entrepreneur Silvia Lucci. Lucci participated in PHL's first Concessions Academy, the initiative designed to help and guide local business in joining PHL. The new addition is a part of PHL Food and Shops’ expanding Founded in Philly initiative, which aims to bring local businesses into the airport and give travelers a taste of the City of Brotherly Love.
Passengers can find LUHV items at four airport locations - Evolve (A- West), Hudson (A-West and D terminals) and Philadelphia Tribune (A- East). Inspired by Lucci’s own family recipes, LUHV offers pre-packaged meals that are vegan, nut-free, and kosher. LUHV’s mission is to "mainstream veganism" by providing delicious, accessible options for both vegans and non-vegans alike.
"We’re excited to introduce more plant-based products into our program, giving passengers a broader selection of healthy options," shared PHL’s Assistant Director of Property Management & Business Development Jenny Ly.
Originally from Argentina, Lucci immigrated to the U.S. in 1988 and, after years working in the restaurant industry with her husband Daniel, opened LUHV Bistro in Hatboro in 2015. Motivated by personal health challenges and a desire to preserve the plant-based recipes that helped restore her family’s wellbeing, Lucci transformed a small local bistro into a full-scale food manufacturing company. Today, LUHV products are sold in markets across the Mid-Atlantic and continue to grow.
“We are thrilled to offer LUHV in our airport,” says the Assistant Marketing and Guest Experience Manager at MarketPlace PHL Ali Corr. “Keep an eye out for LUHV signs and upcoming tastings in one of four participating locations nearby soon!”
