New Security Process Makes American Airlines-Landline Travel Seamless

Travelers who utilize Landline, a premium motorcoach service through American Airlines, can look forward to a more convenient and streamlined airside-to-airside experience this summer.

Since June 2022, the Landline program has transported passengers travelling from Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) and Atlantic City International Airport to their connecting flights at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Previously, passengers needed to be screened by security when arriving at PHL. As of July 11, travelers are screened by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at their local airport and are bused to PHL with no need to be rescreened when they arrive at PHL. After about a 70-minute bus trip, the Landline vehicle clears the security gate, and passengers are dropped off at Terminal F to proceed to their connecting flight while their checked luggage is handled by American Airlines.

“It’s a great partnership between TSA, Landline, and American Airlines in taking care of our travelers’ needs in identifying a new way to look at transportation” said TSA Deputy Federal Security Director, Christine Assili. “We put in numerous security requirements for bus operators and all airline personnel to ensure robust security protocols are followed at all times. We have been working on this program with our regulatory team, the airport, American Airline and Landline officials in developing this seamless connection from one airport to another in a way that ensures the integrity of our security protocols.”

“Landline service makes travel more seamless and stress free for American Airlines customers in the greater Philadelphia region.” said Nick Johnson, Landline’s Vice President of Revenue. “Checking-in for your flight, clearing TSA in Allentown or Atlantic City, and not having to re-clear security at PHL makes for a less hectic travel day."

Landline’s new and improved process helps travelers bypass the stress of commuting, finding parking, and waiting in an additional security line. It also offers travelers additional time to enjoy other services that PHL has to offer.
