New USO Lounge Opens at PHL

USOPhiladelphia International Airport (PHL) celebrated the opening of its newly relocated and constructed USO Lounge on October 10.

The 2,762-square-foot USO facility is located at the top of Terminal E. It offers a calm and comforting environment for U.S. service members and their families as they travel through PHL. The updated facility includes a computer room, grab-and-go snacks and drinks, a kids' area, outlets at every seat, and spots to relax and recharge, whether during a short layover or a longer stay.

The transformation of the USO lounge was made possible through the dedicated partnership and support of several key contributors. Arora Engineers, together with Corgan, D’Lauro & Rodgers, Inc. and ASG, worked to bring the USO’s vision to life and create a space that reflects care and appreciation for military families.

“This project is about more than just a beautiful new space. It shows our ongoing commitment to the USO’s mission to those who serve,” said PHL Chief Operating Officer Greg Phillips. “It gives military families a place to find peace and comfort while traveling through PHL. We are proud to be a part of this important effort.” USO

The ribbon-cutting event brought together a wide range of special guests, including Flag Officers from the Marine Corps and Navy, BG Frank McGovern, Assistant Adjutant General; Commander Gordon Hood, Executive Officer of the Coast Guard; Rebecca Parkes, USO North Region President; and representatives from Live! Casino, one of the event’s sponsors.

Jessica Reid, Executive Director of the USO in Philadelphia, shared her excitement. “Here in Philadelphia, the USO has a special mission. We help United States Coast Guard recruits on their way to Cape May Training Center, and we also help with escorting families when they travel through Philadelphia for dignified transfers at Dover Air Force Base. Opening this new space starts a new era for the USO at the Philadelphia International Airport. And we’re proud to be a part of a mission that helps service members and their families to feel welcome, supported, and connected in the city of Philadelphia.”
