As the Philadelphia region gets ready to host the nation’s 250th birthday and matches for two major international soccer championships, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is launching a new, multi-year partnership with the Philadelphia Union.
The partnership provides an opportunity for PHL to promote its growing roster of more than 120 nonstop destinations around the world to the Union fanbase.
“We are excited to build the brand reputation of PHL and support our community, our sports teams and local fans,” said airport CEO Atif Saeed. “Soccer is a sport with unmatched global appeal and through this partnership, we will share how we’re proudly connecting the Philadelphia region with the world.”
As a proud partner of the Philadelphia Union, Subaru Park, and the WSFS Bank Sportsplex, PHL will be featured in advertising space within the stadium, including the video board and digital flatscreens. The airport will appear in radio spots during game broadcasts on 97.5 The Fanatic and will have visibility through the team’s social and digital media. PHL will also welcome Union players and its mascot, Phang, to the airport during the season for events.
“We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Philadelphia International Airport,” said Charlie Slonaker, Chief Revenue Officer of the Philadelphia Union. "With a roster featuring many international players, we recognize the airport as an important gateway to our city. This collaboration strengthens our connection with the community as we welcome fans and visitors to Philadelphia. Together, we hope to showcase Philadelphia’s passion for soccer and highlight the spirit of this city, both on and off the field.”
“Travelers in our region have options when it comes to flying. This partnership provides PHL with major exposure to the community to showcase all that PHL offers, including nonstop access to more than 120 destinations, award-winning and local restaurants at the airport and many other guests,” said Saeed.
The partnership aligns with the airport’s upcoming plans and celebrations for 2026. With the upcoming FIFA World Club Cup matches in 2025 and the FIFA World Cup 2026 to be hosted in Philadelphia, soccer will play a big role in the city and in travel plans for visitors and locals. The partnership will extend through the period that includes the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
