Get Ready to “Take Off ” on the PNE Runway to Support March of Dimes

Looking to add a little adventure to your workout? How about taking a walk, run or bike ride on the Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE) runway? Well kind of.

From October 17-23, runners, walkers and bikers can follow a narrated simulated 5K race throughout PNE’s runways and taxiways while supporting the March of Dimes. The virtual PNE 5K, hosted by Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), in partnership with the March of Dimes and the City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation, is a “Fund the Mission” event for the March of Dimes’ annual Transportation, Building & Construction Luncheon. The luncheon honors leaders and projects from the public and private sectors of the transportation, building and construction industries and is held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. PHL’s East Airfield rehabilitation project will receive the 2021 Philadelphia Aviation Project Award, to be presented at the awards luncheon in November.

Registration for the virtual run/walk/bike is now open (click here). Participants can complete the 5K at any time between October 17-23. The PNE runway video will be available on the registration website during the event week. Runners/walkers/bikers can upload their results to the registration site through October 27.

The cost to register for the virtual 5K is $25 and proceeds benefit the March of Dimes. Participants can join an existing team or create their own. All participants receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal courtesy of event sponsor The H&K Group.
