The City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation was recently presented with the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Philadelphia Chapter’s Diversity Award. One of the top transportation industry organizations, WTS annually distinguishes individuals and organizations that have contributed to the success and advancement of women in the industry. The honored received by the Division of Aviation amplifies the airport's commitment to advancing diversity throughout the organization. Women currently serve in over 48% of airport leadership positions, from management roles to the executive level, including CEO Chellie Cameron, CFO Tracy Borda, CAO Delicsha Wilds, and Api Appulingam, Deputy Director of Aviation and Capital Development, who proudly serves as the president-elect of WTS’s Philadelphia chapter.
“It is truly an honor to receive the WTS Diversity Award,” said Cameron. “The Division of Aviation takes pride in creating an environment that promotes equal participation of women in leadership positions throughout the enterprise.”
By celebrating the many successful women leaders in the Division of Aviation and other transportation sectors, the airport hopes to use its platform to celebrate diversity, broaden the representation of women, and uplift women of color to continue breaking barriers in the transportation space. The Division of Aviation participates in various programs that encourage young women to pursue careers in transportation, including its collaboration with The Enterprise Center and the U.S. Department of Transportation Women & Girls Transportation Initiative.
