PHL Chickie’s & Pete’s receiver Humzah Mughal received the “Impression Maker” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program in recognition of his commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in his role.
Mughal has been working at PHL’s Chickie’s and Pete’s locations for over seven years. He helps support the restaurants’ daily operations for receiving and retrieving products. He begins his day in this fast-paced environment at 5:45 a.m. Mughal enjoys the diversity at the airport and his job has given him opportunities to assist guests. He has been previously recognized for his friendly approach and behavior towards passengers.
PHL guest Francis Schwartz nominated Mughal for the Impression Maker Award after assisting him in finding the Chase Lounge. “I was lost and unable to locate the Chase Lounge, so I asked a man for directions. He gave me directions and, instead of simply pointing, he walked with me through the terminal and showed me exactly where it was. I’m grateful that he showed me the way,” said Schwartz.
Chickie’s and Pete’s General Manager, Paul Porter, recognizes Mughal for his consistent performance and strong work ethic as a member of the team. Mughal’s role is physically demanding and includes lifting and carrying more than 200-pound items. He also carries a ServSafe certificate which recognizes food and beverage safety training administrated by the National Restaurant Association. Porter says Humzah is a valued team member who can be relied upon by management to complete his responsibilities efficiently.
“Humzah is one of our more valued team members. A very quiet individual, yet his work ethic speaks loudly. He is an individual who is heavily relied on by management as he executes all tasks efficiently,” said Porter. “Humzah will also take the time out of his busy day to assist anyone in need, whether it be a fellow team member or a passenger passing him by in the terminals. We couldn't ask for a better representation of this company!”
One of Mughals’ most memorable experiences at PHL involved assisting a passenger who did not speak English. He helped the passenger find her gate and provided support during a challenging moment.
“I would like to thank Angel, who trained me when I first started at PHL and helped me learn the responsibilities of my job. I would also like to thank my manager, Jovani, for helping me throughout my time at PHL. I appreciate everything they have done for me.”
The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Strategy Groups’ Guest Experience (GX) unit. Honorees are nominated by their peers and guests and are selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Stakeholder Engagement Committee.
