Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) Parking Enforcement Officers Jabco Jose, Barry Rollins, and Anthony Eroh received the “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This award recognizes employees who work together as a team to provide support and assistance to passengers throughout the airport.
As parking enforcement officers, Jose, Rollins, and Eroh help manage traffic flow throughout the airport, ensuring passengers and drivers can safely and efficiently navigate pickup and drop-off areas. Their responsibilities include directing vehicles, assisting passengers, maintaining safety, and helping airport operations run smoothly during busy travel periods. Together, they play a crucial role in creating a positive first and last impression for passengers at PHL.
Mary Boas Hayes nominated Jose, Rollins, and Eroh for the award, sharing, “I want to commend the Parking Authority employees working near the American Airlines passenger pickup area during an extremely busy holiday travel night. Despite heavy traffic and long delays, they handled the situation with professionalism and compassion. When I wasn’t feeling well and needed extra time, several employees approached me kindly, checked on my well-being, and even helped guide me safely to a parking area. After more than 50 years of traveling through PHL, it was refreshing to experience such patience, care, and exceptional customer service.”
Jose has worked at PHL for two years and says one of the most meaningful parts of his role is knowing the work he does directly impacts passengers’ travel experiences. “Whether it’s helping someone during a stressful moment or ensuring smooth operations, it’s rewarding to make a difference,” he shared. He enjoys the fast-paced airport environment and values the teamwork between coworkers to keep operations running smoothly.
Rollins has worked with PHL for almost a year and values interacting with passengers. “Seeing the gratitude on passengers’ faces and hearing people thank me for what I do is fulfilling,” Rollins explained. He believes understanding passengers and communicating clearly helps create a safer and less stressful experience for everyone traveling through the airport.
Eroh, who has worked at the airport for about eight months, enjoys helping create a safe environment for passengers arriving at PHL. During his time at the airport, he says he has strengthened his patience and communication skills while learning the importance of teamwork in a fast-paced environment. “Everyone does their part to make sure passengers have a safe space to pull up and load their vehicles,” Eroh shared.
One of Rollins’ most memorable moments at PHL involved helping reunite a family after a passenger became lost while arriving at the airport for the first time. After assisting the family and helping locate their son, Rollins recalls the passenger becoming emotional and thanking him for restoring her faith in humanity. Their coworkers describe them as reliable, hardworking, supportive, and always willing to help others when needed. The team works closely to maintain safety, assist passengers, and ensure airport traffic operations run as smoothly as possible.
“I would like to thank my team and mentors who have supported me throughout my time here,” Jose shared.
Rollins added, “I would like to thank PPA, PHL, my team, and supervisor Tom Headley for the guidance and support that helped me grow in my role.”
“I’d like to thank everyone on our team at the airport, especially Tom, Barry, and Jabco, for their support and teamwork. I also want to thank the passengers who appreciate and understand the work we do every day to help keep the airport safe and running smoothly,” Eroh shared.
The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Strategy Groups’ Guest Experience (GX) unit. Honorees are nominated by their peers and guests and are selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Stakeholder Engagement Committee.
