PHL Caring Support - Prospect Airport Services Passenger Service Assistant Chimeye Henry

Prospect Airport Services Passenger Service Assistant Chimeye Henry recently received the “Caring Support” award in Philadelphia International Airport's (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This award recognizes employees who provide exceptional care and services to seniors, families with young children, disabled passengers, and others with special needs.

Henry has been at PHL for over eighteen months and works the 4 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. shift. She assists travelers in need of wheelchairs, helping them navigate the airport from the moment they check-in, through security, to their gate, and onto the airplane. She also assists arriving guests with deplaning and retrieving their luggage in baggage claim. On the job, Henry demonstrates customer-centrism, respect, effectiveness, transcending expectations, and proactive communication.

“The most meaningful part of my job is ensuring that I’m providing the best service possible, that I worked to my full potential,” said Henry.

In her nomination of Henry, Traveler’s Aid Information Assistant Mikailah Bryan stated, “As a fellow airport worker, I've had the pleasure of watching Ms. Henry work her magic many times. She is truly an angel. She treats every passenger she encounters with the utmost care and concern. She never turns away from a person in need, whether it be physical assistance or simply directions. She's always happy and eager to help! I've witnessed her care for elderly passengers as if they were her own loved one. She truly embodies the city's mantra of love.”

Henry enjoys meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. She’s picked up on some Spanish through her work at the airport. She’s also tapped into her patience and multi-tasking skills.

At PHL, Henry and her coworkers practice good communication skills. Henry likes that her coworkers share her work ethic and are friendly and diverse. Her coworkers describe Henry as amazing, loving, caring, heartwarming, and someone who goes above and beyond.  Two quotes Henry lives by are “Always work to your full potential”, and “Meye of the unconditional love”, which refers to her nickname and personal mantra.

Henry enjoys connecting with guests personally by comforting them and providing them with a listening ear. Through her work, she’s run into Philadelphia-born artist Patti LaBelle and other celebrities. “I feel like everyone I meet is a star,” she said.

Henry enjoys working for her company. “Prospect employs people who have a kind heart and are here to do their job,” she said.

While working with guests, Henry hopes they always remember her and their good experience in Philadelphia.

“I would like to thank my supervisor, April Kilpatrick, and my lead, Ira Harris,” said Henry. They molded me into the good worker that I am. They trained and taught me the techniques and information I needed to complete my job efficiently.”

The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Guest Experience (GX) Department. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Employee Conduct and Recognition Committee.
