PHL Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: Prime Flight Aviation - American Airlines Baggage Service Supervisor Kellie Guy

Prime Flight Aviation - American Airlines Baggage Service Supervisor Kellie Guy was recognized in the “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” category of Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This distinction acknowledges employees who create a positive guest experience through service and delivery while collaborating with other organizations.

Kellie Guy As a baggage service supervisor, Guy oversees American Airlines’ baggage claim in Terminal A-East by ensuring passengers receive their luggage upon arrival. She also manages employees within the department. She has worked at PHL for the past four years.

“I start my day with a positive attitude,” said Guy. “The most meaningful part of my job is encouraging my staff to do their best in everything they do.”

Guy enjoys being exposed to the different cultures that she constantly encounters at the airport.

In her nomination of Guy, Prime Flight Aviation’s General Manager Donna Firm stated, “I am pleased to say that Ms. Guy has quite a few letters of gratitude in her file. Her professionalism is witnessed by many. Her most recent kudos letter came from passenger Richard Clarke on 7/19/2022, where he mentioned how Ms. Guy cut through all the red tape and found his two lost bags. She communicated well with Mr. Clarke and the airline to retrieve the bags and sent them back to him as soon as possible. Clarke stated that he has regained his trust in humanity and airline baggage service in general. He said Ms. Guy's 'simply does it because she cares' attitude won him over. She always goes above and beyond for her passengers, treating them as she would like to be treated. Can you ask any more from an employee?”

Additionally, another passenger whose flight was canceled hugged Guy in appreciation after she retrieved his luggage. “He was so happy and kept saying thank you so much,” said Guy. “He was almost in tears, and I was almost in tears because he was so grateful.”

Guy exercises patience while on the job in an industry which she compares to a well-oiled machine that’s constantly moving.

“My coworkers and I continue communicating to achieve department goals,” said Guy. “I like that my coworkers like to have fun with one another.”

Her biggest mantra for maintaining a positive attitude is “what you put out is what you receive.”

At PHL, Guy is known for being sincere, responsible, and trustworthy. In her free time, she likes to mentor youth to become successful.

“Working for Prime Flight Aviation is very relaxing,” said Guy. “They give you the ability to strive without pressure. I've been told by many passengers that I have a great and kind spirit, and it's been very rewarding meeting new people.”

The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Guest Experience (GX) Department. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Employee Conduct and Recognition Committee.
