PHL's 5K is Back and Past Participants Are Ready

It’s back! For the first time since 2019, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) will hold its 5K On the Runway on September 10 — and past participants are ready to run again.

Division of Aviation Senior Project Manager Satheesh Raja is pumped up for the return of this favorite PHL event. “There’s a lot to say about spending off hours with your coworkers. The race is a great way to reacquaint with friends and coworkers who changed assignments or to meet new people who have joined PHL’s team,” he said. “Returning to the 5K this year is very exciting, especially because we haven’t raced in person since 2019.”

Raja is also thrilled to raise money for the groups that will benefit from the 5K’s proceeds: the March of Dimes, Eastwick Friends & Neighbors Coalition (EFNC) and Eastwick United CDC (EU). The charities are causes that are important to him.

Delicsha 5KDelicsha Wilds, the Division of Aviation’s Chief Administrative Officer, is equally enthusiastic. “It’s the camaraderie for me!” she said. “The time we spend with our co-workers has decreased considerably since the beginning of the pandemic. Many of us have spent years working alongside the same people but working remotely changed that dynamic tremendously.”

The 5K will take place rain or shine. We’re hoping for a sunny day, but no matter what the weather, hundreds of participants will be there to run, walk and cheer on their co-workers and guests. We hope that you will join us on September 10th, it will be a chance to hang out with your work besties and raise money for good causes.

You still have time to join the fun. Registration is still open at PHL 5K Run/Walk. Come run or walk with us!
