Philadelphia artists Won Kyoung Lee and Matthew Alden Price created My Philadelphia Story that includes nearly 600 unique objects, each of which represents a different individual's memory or story relative to their life in Philadelphia. Over the course of two years, Lee and Price conducted numerous community engagements where they spoke with residents about their lives in Philadelphia, shared their personal stories, and their favorite memories.

From these conversations, the community became participants and each donated an object that represents their Philadelphia story.  Each story has been documented and can be found at myphiladelphiastory.com.

The inspiration for My Philadelphia Story came from the artists’ determination to create something that would deeply engage Airport travelers. Lee and Price said, “The experience of being entrusted with so many objects and stories has been a truly humbling experience. The people whom we met over the last two years are now among our closest friends. We truly thank them for being part of this project.”

This artwork has been commissioned by the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy’s Percent for Art Program and Philadelphia International Airport.
