PHL Hosts Human Trafficking Panel for Airport Stakeholders

One of the most important components of the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation’s anti-human trafficking campaign is increased education and awareness among airport employees. The Department, along with stakeholders and partners, is working to ensure preparedness for different situations, including the risk of human trafficking that comes with major sporting events.  

PHL Surpasses 30 Million Passengers for Second Consecutive Year

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) welcomed more than 30.1 million passengers in 2025. This is the first time since 2018 and 2019 that PHL surpassed more than 30 million passengers in consecutive years. Over 4.1 million of PHL’s 2025 passengers traveled to and from international destinations—an increase of 7.5 percent from 2024. 

Mayor Parker Announces Departure of Department of Aviation CEO Atif Saeed​ 


PHILADELPHIA – Mayor Cherelle L. Parker announced today that Atif Saeed, Department of Aviation CEO will leave his position, effective Friday, February 27, 2026.

“I want to thank Atif Saeed for his leadership and service to the City of Philadelphia,” said Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. “Under his direction, our airports emerged stronger from the pandemic, advanced critical modernization efforts, and positioned Philadelphia to welcome the world in 2026 and beyond. We are grateful for his contributions and wish him continued success in this next chapter.”

PHL and PNE Launch Comprehensive Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign

With multiple large events such as the FIFA World Cup, Major League Baseball All-Star Game and America’s 250th birthday celebration coming to the Philadelphia region throughout 2026, the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation is increasing its efforts to educate Philadelphia International (PHL) and Northeast Philadelphia Airport (PNE) passengers, employees and airport partners on how to recognize signs of trafficking and report activity to the appropriate authorities.
