DNA FLORAL - TO MY DIVINE LIGHT
DNA FLORAL - TO MY DIVINE LIGHT

Philadelphia botanical artist Domino Yarra uses dried plant materials as her medium to create unique tabletop arrangements and larger scale floral compositions. Yarra was living in Los Angeles when she first started to arrange flowers as a “creative outlet but also it provided a sense of therapy.” As the live flowers dried out over time, Yarra would continue to create with them using spray paint to restore color. Eventually, dried florals were her go to resource. And there is an added benefit of working with dried plant material—its longevity.

Yarra describes her working process as “freestyle.” She said, “I might start with a color direction or a shape,” but ideally, “I allow the blooms to shine and, I let it flow.”
Like the business approach for her company DNA Floral, Yarra has similarly created floral designs that are “pure and natural; and explores not only the character of flowers, individually and in combinations, but also the aesthetic relationship between flowers and the setting.” Using brightly saturated background colors, brings focus to the shapes, tones, textures of each design.

Recently giving birth to her first child, Yarra has dedicated this exhibition to “my son, the divine light of my universe.”
