Michelle Robinson Design Project Manager Brian English is known for his professionalism and patience. After being nominated by four employees from the Department of Aviation’s Properties team, he received the “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This award honors individuals who go above and beyond to enhance the guest experience by demonstrating exemplary service and effective collaboration skills amongst diverse teams.
Within his role at PHL, English oversees and coordinates MarketPlace PHL retail and concession projects, from design through construction to completion. He has been at PHL for over eight years as a contractor from Michelle Robinson Design and enjoys the airport's evolving atmosphere. The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club and Oyster House are his top two favorite projects he’s worked on from beginning to end. English possesses an OSHA 30 certification, a program designed to equip workers with comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety and health hazards.
“I enjoy how the airport never stops and is always changing,” said English. “There are always new faces and new projects.”
In their nomination of English, the Properties team stated, “Brian is an excellent project manager and is always willing to support and address any issues or concerns that come up with poise and grace. In his role, Brian ensures that MarketPlace PHL tenant construction is well-planned, supported, guided, on track and meeting the airport's expectations. We truly appreciate how consistently responsive and accommodating he is. Brian is always consistent, diligent, rigorous and a pleasure to work with. We appreciate his professionalism and are grateful for Brian’s exemplary work and valuable expertise at the airport.”
English strives to create welcoming spaces that enhance the experience of guests passing through PHL. “I enjoy walking through and seeing all the projects that I’ve finished,” he said. “Seeing guests enjoying them as well as being able to direct them to new concessions is exciting.”
English counts receiving the 2025 MarketPlace PHL Achievement Award as his most memorable moment at PHL. He enjoys completing projects by problem-solving, adapting and facing challenges as they arise.
“I want to thank the Properties team that nominated me,” said English. “I also thank my company, Michelle Robinson Design, general contractors, the Marketplace PHL team, Department of Aviation Engineering and security, as well as my brother, for encouraging me to work here.”
