Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) Lot Attendant David Graham is a people person who is always willing to assist Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) guests. He recently received the “Unsung Heroes” award from PHL’s Employee Recognition Program after assisting a passenger. This award recognizes and honors employees who play significant behind-the-scenes roles. Their dedication and effort are essential to the airport's success.
As a Lot Attendant, Graham assists customers in navigating the airport and addresses car issues as needed. He’s been at PHL for over eight years and works the 5 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. shift. Prior to his current role, he was a member of the PPA’s maintenance department.
At PHL, Graham demonstrates the values of prioritizing passenger needs, customer-centricity, exceeding expectations, respect, and integrity.
In their nomination of Graham, one passenger stated, “On Friday evening while driving, I ran over something in the road. As I pulled into the Airport Economy Lot and immediately pulled into a parking spot, I saw David Graham. I asked him if he could help me. I had run over a large bag of debris shortly before entering the parking lot. He got down on his knees and verified it. David said the debris was lodged up in the undercarriage of my car. He said he was sorry, but then he said he would try to go under my car and pull it out by hand. It was amazing that he was willing to do that for me, and I really cannot thank him enough. He had to pull out a lot of debris and continued until there was nothing further to retrieve from under my car. Thank you, David Graham, for going above and beyond the call of duty to help me.”
Graham has a positive spirit and is always willing to mentor and assist new and established employees. “I like to give my coworkers advice,” he said. “We make sure we’re all helping one another and working as a team.”
Graham’s most memorable moment at PHL was receiving this Employee Recognition award.
“I like interacting with people,” said Graham. “I love working here. This is where I want to retire. The PPA is a friendly company, my coworkers are great. We all respect one another and treat one another like family. I want to thank my bosses, Frank Ragozzino, Joseph Boschetti, Patarica Laws and Joe D’Urso for treating me with respect. I appreciate the opportunity to be here at PHL.”
The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Guest Experience (GX) Department. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Employee Conduct and Recognition Committee.
