Travelers Aid International Information Navigator Kyhaan Tucker received a “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program for going above and beyond while assisting guests at the airport. This award recognizes individuals who exemplify outstanding service and demonstrate effective communication skills within diverse teams, effectively addressing the needs of passengers.
As an Information Navigator, Tucker assists guests in making their way through the terminals. She has been with Travelers Aid International for five months and works the 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. shift Saturday through Wednesday.
Tucker believes her behavioral health technician (BHT) certification, CPR/AED certification, and patient care certifications prepare her to better serve children, the elderly, and disabled passengers.
“I love to help people,” said Tucker. “I love to go above and beyond for people. I always take care of people just as I would want somebody to care of me or my family members. I ensure that I can provide the passenger with proper services, making them feel good about themselves while I assist them. The most meaningful part of my job is serving all passengers.”
In her nomination of Tucker, passenger Josette Harrigan stated, “I want to take the opportunity to compliment one of your navigators. My friend and I just entered the area near Gate B, and we were saying we have to purchase a mask. Kyhaan was in the area and asked if she could assist. I love the attention she paid to us and that she cared. I have been working in the customer service industry for over 30 years, and I would love to have Kyhaan Tucker as an employee. She is an asset to PHL, and the experiences that passengers have interacting with her are memorable and heartfelt. Please thank Kyhaan again for her awesome professionalism and friendly demeanor.”
Tucker was also nominated by her supervisor, Alexis Paulin, and the Department of Aviation security team for maintaining PHL’s safety and security protocols in response to a security issue.
Tucker enjoys the aviation industry and working for her employer. “The airport is an interesting environment,” she said. “I love airplanes. Travelers Aid International is a consistent, caring, and understanding organization. They have amazing communication. They're friendly, and they make you feel like family.”
Tucker also enjoys working with her colleagues at PHL. “We communicate and ask each other questions,” she said. “They're always willing to help. They're enthusiastic, and they love my enthusiasm. We give one another gratitude.”
While working, Tucker prioritizes engaging guests to meet their needs. “Travelers look for our blue jackets when they come to PHL,” said Tucker. “They are kind and grateful for our services. I appreciate them a lot. They make me know that I'm doing my job the best way I can. I want to thank everyone who voted for me to receive this Employee Recognition award. I'm grateful for this honor. I also want to thank my entire team for their support. I also want to give a special thanks to my boss, Milton Creary, and my supervisor, Alexis Paulin, for always holding me accountable, teaching me all the ropes, and allowing me to be myself.”
The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Guest Experience (GX) Department. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Employee Conduct and Recognition Committee.
